Science Lab

Today in science lab, the room 14ers learned about pollution, and how it affects people and animals. We played a game with plastic teddy bears, both red and blue, and showed how pollution affected them. First, we put 2 pollutants, blue bears, in a plastic jug, then we put 10 healthy bears, red ones, in the jug. Then, we pull 2 bears out of the jug, and if 2 red ones come out, the more bears survive, and in the next pulling, 1 baby bear is added. If 2 blue ones come out, then in the next pulling, one more pollutant is added to the jug. But, if 1 blue and 1 red bear come out, then the healthy red bear has died. We did this 25 times, and at the end of the game, all the bears were extinct. Science lab helped the 14ers learn about pollution by playing an "educational" game! Who says games can't teach learning? :)
